Repair Your Smile with a Dental Bridge

If you are missing a single tooth or several consecutive teeth, the gap in your smile can cause difficulties eating and speaking. It can also take a toll on your confidence. A dental bridge is an excellent solution for restoring function and aesthetics. Dr. Yani and the skilled team at Holistic & Healing Dentistry in Fort Lauderdale, FL, can provide both traditional and implant-supported dental bridges.

What is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge consists of one or more replacement teeth anchored either by dental crowns or dental implants.

A dental bridge is a common solution for missing teeth that comprises artificial teeth, or pontics, which are secured by dental crowns or dental implants. Your pontics and dental crowns will be created from high-quality porcelain for the most realistic results.

Benefits of Dental Bridges

Missing teeth often cause patients to avoid chewing on that side of their mouth, contributing to additional stress and wear on the rest of their teeth. The spaces between teeth may also affect pronunciation. With an emphasis on holistic care, your dental bridge will be created using materials that are free of toxins and offer the best oral health benefits.

Implant-Supported Bridges

An implant-supported dental bridge can provide patients with reliable, long-term tooth replacement along with other unique oral health advantages. Dental implants are inserted into the jaw bone, providing the stimulation necessary to stop the bone recession that happens following the loss of a tooth. While a traditional bridge can certainly restore aesthetics and function, it cannot prevent the loss of jawbone tissue.

If you are suffering from an incomplete smile, we are here to restore your health, comfort, and confidence.

Your implants will be placed by Dr. Bradley Ross, a periodontist. He can perform the surgical phase of your procedure to ensure the utmost precision and lasting results.

The Placement Procedure

First, you will be provided with a local anesthetic to numb the treatment area. If you are receiving an implant-supported bridge, Dr. Yani will begin by removing enamel from the teeth on either side of the gap. This will allow the teeth to accommodate the crowns that will support the pontics.

For patients receiving an implant-supported bridge, Dr. Ross will surgically place your implants. Once they have integrated with the jaw following a healing period of four to six months, we can begin crafting your bridge. Once you are ready to receive your bridge, we will take digital impressions of the gap and surrounding teeth.

While some bridges may be sent to an offsite lab for fabrication, we can often create your custom restoration in our office using CEREC technology. If your bridge must be crafted offsite, we can provide a temporary restoration while you wait.

Once your bridge is complete, we will secure it in place using dental cement. Your doctor will exercise the highest attention to detail to ensure that your bridge is properly placed for a comfortable, secure fit.
